Perky Bird - but what? (1 Viewer)

Anyone know what this is? Havent seen one before, it was a noisy little chap. Took a good deal of patience to finally get to see him?

You say he was noisy: what noise did it make? The answer would be useful in confirming what I think is a Cetti's too.

I remember my first there, in 1978 - they were rare then, I even made notes!

Tend to agree, Cetti's is most likely from your description of behaviour and loud song bursts. The tail looks right (discounts Nightingale). Not a clear enough view but looks like a reasonable white eye stripe to support this as well. I think the clincher is that 'cocked' tail with the generally soft white underparts.
We need a real expert here! Only got poorish views of a few Cetti's myself over the years so cannot be 100% - would know the song though (if the experts I've been with have not misguided me before!)

Uniform warm-brown upperparts, greyish underparts, long thin super, dark lore, grey mottled cheeks, cocked tail, explosive song, difficult to see. Yep, Cetti's I'd say, although a bit worn.
