I really am very amateurish. I shoot in jpeg & simply crop & sharpen in Photoshop. In the future, when more on top of things, I will try & be a grown up on such things!

This seems like a bizarre thing to say in light of the volume and quality of species recorded but 31st August saw me have almost a full meltdown! The combination of hard birding in dark conditions and heavy vegetation - sounds, heard onlys, glimpses, poor photo opportunities, etc - and brooding on the loss of my father shortly before the trip started came to a head. Also looking at the checklists, I had clearly not slept well the night before and the birding was lengthy and the distances covered reasonably significant. Thankfully I was travelling with a good friend with whom I have done the majority of my world birding over the last two years and after a heart to heart, I got back on track the next day.... Now 1st September photos edited & added to eBird. It was one hell of a day & eBird tells me that I am now approaching 2,000 bird species with photos in the database. (That should be around 3,000 species when the historic exercises for last year and this are complete.) An excellent day with many highlights but the third Checklist from Miradoe Pico de Hoz was quite simply brilliant fun. After lunch we left Manu Biolodge & travelled along the Manu River by boat through stormy skies to Pantiacolla Lodge via a Long-tailed Potoo diversion. Did I say that it was a good day?
