I had the incredible luck to watch the Ostrich courtship and mating in Masai Mara, Kenya. The pink puffed out neck of the male is impressive. And its dance is a great moment.

Very interesting! In the second shot the female looks like she's doing a ballet-type curtsey - am I inspired by the old Disney Fantasia or was Disney inspired by seeing this behavior?

Superb Jerome

First time I have seen the breeding behaviour of the ostrich before the males neck certainly stood out
Quite a vibrant colour, and what powerful legs and feet certainly the last of the large birds, such a
Shame that the moa was hunted to extinction In new zealand where they had survived before man
Could record them there properly and even film them like you did with the ostrich In the masai mara
Truly a giant amongst giants, but again thank you for the wonderful clip of the breeding ostrich,s and
The story leading up to the filming of these birds.....

Thanks coaltit. I have seen a real size model of an Haast's Eagle attacking a Moa at Wellington Museum : impressive ! But unfortunately both species have become extinct.
