Hi Folks,

If anyone can identify what's making the sound in the first half of this clip I'd be mighty grateful: Warblr Birdsong - Clyp . I hear it all the time outside my house. Warblr doesn't identify it. It sounds a bit like a woodpecker drumming but it's not exactly the same. I've listened to lots of woodpecker drumming online and none is the right fit.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Are you sure its a bird and not an amphibian?

Agree an amphibian sounds more likely, though if happening during the day, another possibility might conceivably be a rook or crow. Aside from the normal cawing sounds they can make some peculiar sounds that are often specific to the individuals

No, I'm not sure at all! If you have any ideas on that front I'd be grateful!
Do you have any raised pots of flowers that are very slightly off the ground? I have lots of frogs under the pots and in the front flowerbeds. I may of course be wrong but I have yet to hear a bird call like yours.

Hi MacFierce and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Sorry, I can't work out what it could be.

All things Scottish can be found here. Also, keep an eye on threads titled something like Scottish Bashes; we try to meet up occasionally and they're always great fun. You'd be most welcome to join us on another if you can manage.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing about the birds you see around you.

Normally, the clicking sound at 0.08 is typical for the Grouse family but of course I'm in doubt. Might be as well some button from your gear :)

Listening to the recording it could be from the same source but is it?
