Today’s highlights

Garganey – 2 pairs on fresh marsh
Yellow wagtail – 4 on fresh marsh
White wagtail – 2 on fresh marsh
Water pipit – 1 on fresh marsh
Spotted redshank – 3 on fresh marsh
Red necked grebe – 1 offshore
Long tailed duck – 3 offshore

Steady passage of sand martin throughout the day with small numbers of swallow and house martin mixed in

I hope the eagle makes it back this way tomorrow!!

It was John F at Cley visitors centre I believe...

It shows some dark on throat, other features do resemble Rustic to some respect. But concenus is it was a Reed. Trying to cover myself for not questioning it at a quick glance of one of the shots!! :C

I soar the Eagle today. I finish my split shift checked the pager which I'm desperatelytrying to get rid of and it said it was in the kinda looking out from Wiveton Downs area. I've gone quite a few times there as a patch thing and no juice yet so reckoned that be the best bet. Few dudes lookin i was only there cos I'd collared my mate - he's a mate biut he's also got a carrr. Buckenham covid carrrr. Sooo we got there sual stiriee, just gone down over that there hill, so sat down and scope and as we walked back amitated waves, ITS SWOHING NOW, ok just relax it not going anywhere And then when you are trying to describe its wingsan is as big as - well when you jump in the air and spread your arms well its MILES bigger than that. An the totally brilliant thing is that your mate WHO HAS NEVER BEEN BIRDING IN HIS LIFE is going yeah i can tell al me friends I'e seen an Eagle in Norfolk!! of all place wadda bird!

Did anyone get a good enough look at the WTE yesterday to see if it was a tagged bird?

It doesn't look like it in the photos but tags are sometimes not that visible (they can 'tuck' over on themselves on a folded wing on a perched bird and be surprisingly difficult to see in flight at a distance).

Anyone seen any photos of the Hants bird? Just wondering if the plumage on 'ours' is similar? It's got some very distinctive moult/damage patterns.

It is the same bird. There is a thread showing the distinctive broken primary on wing

Hi all,

does anyone know what is the latest time in the day that the WT eagle has been seen.

I'm wondering if it's worth a try after work. I can be anywhere in Norfolk by 5.30 tonight. Gives me a couple of hours daylight but I don't know what the roosting habits (i.e. bedtime ) are for an eagle.
