Nikon serial nos/ how old is my scope? (1 Viewer)

Hi

Does anyone know if you can tell the year of manufacture of Nikon scopes (I have just bought a used ED82) through the serial number, like you can with Swarovskis? Just a thought...Cheers.

I don't think Nikon works that way with ser. #'s.
I suppose what you could do is post your ser #, and maybe others could help you determine the age by comparing theirs.
I believe the ED82 first came out in 2003?

No offense intended, but why do you want to know? There hasn't been past interest/discussion on this because, as far as I know, Nikon hasn't made any "stealth improvements" to the design over the years (unlike some other brands/models).
