nikon coolpix 990 vs 995 vs 4500?? (1 Viewer)

hello all...looking for a digiscoping camera, and am seriously considering the nikon coolpix 990, 995, and 4500. how do the two former cameras differ for digiscoping purposes? and how much more detail is resolved by the 4500? I don't have too much to spend, and the 990 and 995 can be bought for much less on ebay.
thanks for any help!

There's not a whole lot of difference between these 3 cameras for the digiscopers. I have some comparison shot between 990 & 4500 here

http://www.digiscoped.com/Nikoncp4500vscp990.html

I'd lean towards the 4500, as much because that the 990 & 995 are now very old cameras and reliability may be suspect on a digital camera 5 years old.

The biggest diffeence is that the 990 only had a 3x zoom, which can be slightly more restrictive if you're set-up is producing a lot of vignetting. On the plus side, you're not tempted to zoom right up to 4x and be greedy with magnification... therefore results are often more consistant.

Image noise at higher ISO settings are also better on the cp995 & 4500.

cheers,
Andy
