New Phone - Merlin ID app STILL not working (1 Viewer)

I recently bought a A56 phone and it works well with Merlin. I had used Merlin previously on a very old OnePlus phone and I haven't seen any significant differences between the two. Merlin can throw up some surprises however and there are some species that it has problems with, it has problems with really loud Great Reed Warblers, and surprisingly needs to be quite near calling Cuckoos that I can hear easily from far away. Sometimes it does invent unlikely species in regions or biotopes where they are most unlikely. I have never used a separate microphone nor would I bother...

I've dabbled with external microphones, and they work "too well" if that makes sense!
There isn't much point having the app pick up every bird in a ridiculously large radius, without even a clue as to which direction they are in. So if the phone works on its own, I'd go for that now.
Unless you are doing something specific almost akin to vismig, where the extra detection range might be useful .

Having the merlin app send notifications to my smart watch is a lot of fun. You find something, then merlin confirms it on your watch a couple of seconds later!

I'm in the same boat. But if you play back your recording (speaking into it makes it easier to tell) the record speed is ridiculously high. (I sound like a smurf) . I've googled the problem, searched the phone settings even approached my IT department at work to no avail. I've reported the issue with Merlin but I gather they rarely respond to emails. So any help from here would be appreciated or my birding days could be over.

I also recently bought the Samsung a56 5g with 256g memory. The app does not function well. When I replay the recordings, the sound plays at triple speed. Try recording your own voice to see if your problem is the same as mine. When I totally reboot my phone, requiring simcard code, the app works, but only for 1 recording. Sound is normal and correct birds are identified. Mysterious bug, I wish I could go back to my old a51. Anyone have a clue?
