New binoculars (2 Viewers)

Hi all,

I am after some advice on binoculars in the UK. I am looking for a entry level set for generally keeping an eye on livestock and some bird watching. I did see this one on offer on Amazon and I was wondering if it was any good?

Bushnell - Legend E-Series Binocular - 10x42 - Black - Roof Prism - Rainguard HD

£86

Many thanks in advance

I think it's going to be difficult to find anyone that can accurately tell you how the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD E-Series 10x42mm compares to other models in that price range.

If you don't already own binoculars, you might want to start with an 8x model such as the Opticron Explorer WA ED-R 8x32 or Nikon Monarch M5... or even a 7x model (The Pentax AD ED 7x32 and Hawke Endurance ED Marine 7x32mm comes to mind.)

For entry level binoculars you might have better luck getting info and help at the Cloudy Nights binocular forum if you don't get the advice you need here , they seem to cater more to budget binoculars than this site .
I hope I haven't crossed the line recommending another website .

I hope I haven't crossed the line recommending another website .

BirdForum was recommended to me from another CloudlyNights member in 2006 and I have used both since.
The two sites compliment each other with BF more bird oriented and CNs more astronomy oriented.

Nikon Action Extreme 7x35.

Agree, waterproof, robust binos with good optics and enough eye relief to allow glasses.
At the price, they are outstanding.
Only possible glitch is that they are porros, so relatively bulky.
Also don't confuse them with the Nikon Action binos, which are not the same optically or mechanically.

I agree the Nikon Action Extreme 7x35 have great optics for the price but since they are waterproof porros the focuser requires fingers like a mountain gorilla or a vise grip to turn them similar to the Habicht's.;)
