New Binocular Bargains Thread (6 Viewers)

Dorr MILAN XP 8X56 - 164,50 €

Campsaver has 20% coupon tha works on Zeiss, Kowa, and more (but not Nikon, Vortex).

8x42 SF for $2,399. 10x42 Conquest HDX for $799. Plus, they offer store credit on top of the offer, 5% for a future purchase.

PREZDAY is the coupon code.

Nice discount especially for the new HDX line.

Meanwhile over at Adorama, the 8x30 CL Swarovski in Urban guise is on Closeout sale with a stackable $300 coupon, brings it to less than a grand for a new AD buy. $969 with free shipping. Only 1 left.

I spotted these today. They seem to be much cheaper than at other UK retailers. Is there a catch? Is it an older version?

Here

Bristol Cameras prices are always keen, I have bought other items from them several times.

N.B. When they say 'available to order' it means they do not have them in stock, so you may have to wait awhile.

There's a good deal on a Swarovski curio further up this thread but for similar money you could have over 5 times as much binoculars (by weight) and 2.5x as much by aperture and twice as large an exit pupil if you picked these up. The only problem comes with picking them up! Nobilem (Germany)8x56B Docter Optics | eBay
Those Nobilem 8x56B's are great binoculars. They only have a 6.3 degree FOV and are heavy at 48 oz., but they have amazing contrast and stereopsis. I would buy those if I lived in the UK. They are ranked 2nd on Allbinos for a 8x56 binoculars, and they very rarely come up for sale.

Crazy low price on a brand new Zeiss conquest HD 10x32 over at GRITR.

$492 with free shipping.

That was a great deal. Gritr is supposedly part of Weby Shops just like Campsaver and Dvor are part of Optics Planet. I wonder if Zeiss will honor the warranty if the receipt is from one of the subsidiaries of their authorized dealers.

Interesting, I did not know GRITR was related to any of the others! According to the website and product page, they are an authorized Zeiss dealer.

2nd Edit: just confirmed on the Zeiss website, they are listed as a dealer in the search. So whoever ordered one (myself included ...) should be good to go on the warranty front.

Edit: just checked Weby, not seeing the link to Campsaver/optics planet. I did notice that the Campsaver/Optics planet webstore interfaces are almost identical. GRITR seems different, how did you learn of the connection? Just curious.

I found Gritr on Zeiss's website of authorized dealers but not on Nikon's. I couldn't find Dvor and Campsaver on Nikon or Zeiss's list of authorized dealers. Walmart sells Nikon binoculars on their website and in stores and they are not listed either as an authorized dealer on Nikon's list of authorized sport optics dealers.

SFL for less than $100 more than the CHDX? Yes, please!

Killer deal on new, USA warrantied SFL 8x40 for $1094.36 with free shipping over at Greentoe. That is like $700 off MSRP, almost 40% discount. The 10x40 is currently even $40 less at $1052.70. (search on Google for the Buy it Now link)

I would just as soon have the Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 for less than 1/2 the price at $600. Not much difference optically IMO.

Come on now, you know these are Apples and Pears...

For anyone in the market for the SFL, I have never seen new pairs offered for less than these. Which are as low or even lower vs. used prices.

That 10x42 CHD is certainly a good value in their own right.

That’s a heck of a deal and is only about $100 more than the Monarch HG 8x42. How do you get that price? I only see the name your price feature.

Try this link. Greentoe is an excellent place to buy through. They connect you with a vendor and then the vendor ships the binoculars. For returns and exchanges, you will deal with the vendor. I have purchased several binoculars through Greentoe without any issues.

Thanks!

Those prices give you an idea of how much Zeiss is marking up their binoculars because of their big name. The SFL retails for $1800 and the Conquest HD retailed for$1000, yet you can buy the SFL new for $1100, and you can buy the Conquest HD new for $500. Almost 1/2 of retail. I would be mad if I paid $1500 to $1800 for a SFL or $1000 for a Conquest HD, and now you can get them for 1/2 price. Talk about taking a hit!

It sure is. A MIJ pair of binoculars should be priced at 1k IMHO.

If you buy a pair of binoculars, do you pay Greentoe or the seller?

You will pay the retailer and get a receipt from them for warranty purposes. If you need to return the item or exchange it, you will then deal directly with the retailer. Greentoe does the haggling for price for you, but you buy the item from the retailer.
If reputable dealers participate, it sounds like a pretty good way to buy binoculars. I'm going to a birding event later this month and plan on trying the SFL's, and if I decide to buy, I'll consider Greentoe. Thanks for the information and have a good one!
