Most Ludicrous Binoculars on Amazon? (3 Viewers)

magnification: 30-260X,Real magnification 10-60x

I would really love to know how did this description come to existence :)

These have to be a contender
Gpzj Super Zoom Binoculars 30-260X160 Powerful Professional Telescope HD Vison High Times Binocular Long Range For Hunting Stargazing : Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Claim to be 30-260x160 but the pictures clearly show they are 20x80. The data quoted is all over the place, one line claims "Pupil exit diameter: 80mm".

I challenge anyone to find something more ridiculous!
Those are some impressive specs :ROFLMAO:

I always wince at the youtube StarScope Monocular adverts and wonder how many people have been tricked into buying one.

Hi Mono,

These have been around for a long time.

I mentioned them some time ago.

It is quite simple as regards aperture.

If each tube is 80mm then both tubes are 160mm.

At least the binocular fits in the pocket.

Amazon are guilty of fraud, as are many others on the internet.

Amazon are so large, they don't care, or will make some sort of excuse, saying they are resellers.

Besides the ones listed, there are numerous other binoculars advertised on the internet that are fraudulent.

I don't buy from Amazon.
I don't buy anything on the internet.

Rarely, a friend has bought something for me from Amazon. E.g. The VisionKing 5x25, which was not available otherwise.

I have sometimes confronted sellers, who are themselves convinced that their lies are truth.
But in the modern world, a large proportion of the population seem to think lies are truth and truth is lies.

False binoculars are at least not a danger, whereas fake medicines or safety equipment.are.

Regards,
B.

Unfortunately I have this 30x60 that came in a job lot that I bought from a friend who helped me with various pinholes.
There are other fakes in the job lot.

The 30x60 is I think an 8x21.

I do wish that all these fakes were just banned.

At least if you buy from a marketplace like ebay or Amazon you'll generally get your money back if you complain that the goods aren't as advertised. It's buying from Aliexpress etc. where you have no recall...

This is not really on topic, because it's crazy prices for some decent bins on Amazon, rather than crazy bins, but anyway in 2016 I took the attached screenshots. A bit more than I'd have been happy paying.

The Amazon automatic pricing algorithm can go haywire...

Hi John,

Yes, crazy prices.

There are sellers of large binoculars, very old and stripped so only the brass shows, or modern poor reproduction telescopes that have really crazy prices.
Also generally sold in Britain, which is disappointing.

Sometimes ten times the real value.

Regards,
B.

There was a very slick infomercial on YouTube a while ago advertising an incredible sounding scope. Can't remember the price but it was dirt cheap, no doubt fooling some naive purchasers. The claimed magnification/ zoom capabilities of these goods is ridiculous. Does make you wonder how they would perform optically.
