Monarch 8x36 (1 Viewer)

I am considering buying these bins, and since they are new, I wanted to see if anyone had tested or purchased them already.

I am trying to decide between the new Monarch ATB 8x36 and the Celestron Noble 8x32 (or another similarly priced and sized bin). If I can find a pair, I am going to test them tomorrow.

Any opinions or experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am working on it. None of the places I have checked have them in stock yet. The last I heard they were set to debut now, during the middle of March, but nothing has shown as of yet. I hope to get my hands on them soon.

I've seen a few online places that have the Monarch 8x36. Here is one with what seems to be the good online price:

I am really curious about this model. Especially "usable" eye relief. I'd be willing to scrifice a little light gathering to get a wider field of view.

I have not checked today but earlier in the week the wait time was still listed as 2-3 weeks for most of the online stores. I will double check shortly though.

My wife just got the Monarch 8x42 and is pleased with the field of view and the brightness. Bought them in a store for just under $400.

You can find the 42 mm Monarchs on line for under 300. Range 250-300.

..and even lower than that on Ebay on a pretty regular basis. I have seen them go right around $200 quite often.

Yeah, there are quite a few, and if you don't mind the camo appearance, some are sold under slightly different names, Realtree or something like that. Most on eBay are those.

NIB Monarch's 8x42 for $180.00

I got my Monarch's 8x42 NIB for $180.00 on Astromart. There is a NIB pair of 8x36 Buckmasters(Same as Sporter's) listed there now for only $99.95 with free shipping. Great deal.

I was corrected that they are similar, but that the Buckmaster has some/better coatings on the optics. It may well be nearly as good as the Monarch, but not waterproof as I recall.

Monarch 8x36 pretty good deal

I just compared them in low light to the Nikon 8x32LX and the LX is brighter ( and twice or 3x as costly)
I had the celestrons and liked them a good bit. i have since given them away. I think the Nikon Monarch line is an excellent value for the money. the 8x36 had good construction, good optics and was a very nice light and mid size package.
If I had to choose between the celestron noble or regal and nikon monarch I'd pick the Monarch.

I bought a pair of the 8x36 Monarch's on Monday, at B&H in NYC. I haven't used them in the field yet, but through the window at the yardbirds.
They are very solidly built, feel good in the hands, relatively bright and sharp.
They were $250, and I'm not sure you're going to find a better set of bins at that proce point. And Nikon's new "no-fault" warranty seems like a great bonus too.
I can give you a better report next week, after I've taken them out a few times.
