Do birders still use this binocs? Are they still valid today?
This are German made not the later ones made in Portugal. Although that only matter for collector’s I guess.

The eyecups are available from Leica service, simply screw on. They have Uppendahl roof prisms, very good optically, but not as bright as newer optics with later coatings.
This model is why Leica is producing them again, now called the Trinvid Classic, a slim shape and very light.

Leica no longer provides service and replacement parts for these binoculars. I have the same problem and am going crazy trying to find replacements. About these binoculars: I have a 7x42 BA circa 1983 and love it, it's my favorite binocular in my group. Today the Leicas are certainly better, but also the Kowa or some Nikons and many other modern ones. But I get along wonderfully with those. My eyes rest when I look through my Leitz a and I like the diopter adjustment on the center post. I have never missed a long-tailed tit or a kestrel or a chamois because of these binoculars.
