Very lucky to find a Habicht in stock, never heard of the Birders' Store but I feel a strong urge to get all my jabs done and drive over the Welsh Border to Worcester.


LOL! My youngest son flew Merlin Helicopters. They had more glued components than an Airfix kit.

The Curio's are fantastic and like you I was able to test alongside the Zeiss and Leica's. In all honesty I couldn't see too many differences twixt all three, but the Curio's felt better, were brighter and were the ones I chose.

They have been brilliant and my knob is still where it should be. Ooh Matron!

I think they should be brighter, one because of exit pupal and second, they are Swaros, which to me appear brighter than Leica, Nikon and Zeiss (current Zeiss) throughout their lineups. The curio and UV must be a tough choice, the Swaro with the 7x (DOF & brightness) and the Leica beauty and 8x magnification. May need both , otherwise may feel dejected and deprived. 🙄

You might not notice in all settings but if I’m using the Ultravid and Curio side by side I’m always immediately struck with how greenish the Curio view is in direct comparison with the warmth of the Ultravid. It’s subtle enough that I can still enjoy going back and forth between the two but absolutely worth noting that neither binocular is superior except for the natural variance in personal preference.

Just to reiterate, you actually need all three, but maybe start out with the BL first.

Totally agree which again reinforces the well worn response to those seeking advice, try before you buy.

I was actually surprised to find that I like the additional focusing resistance of the Ultravid over the silky and effortless Curio, and even though the latter has the absolute perfected twist up eyecups, the ergonomics, color presentation, focusing and feel in-hand forced me back to the Ultravid.
When letting others look through them both it’s interesting to see that some prefer one or the other, while others simply notice that they’re both really nice.
The safest bet for most people is going to be the Curio, but there are many of us who still prefer the Ultravid, and I’d probably sell the Curio if Leica would give us twist up eyecups in either a 7x21, or better yet, 6x18!

Damn, now shooting with the granite background. An artiste, bravo! You know you make them look a lot better then they actually look in person. With most people taking pictures , it’s the other way around.

Snobbery is when you look down on others (binos) with superiority! Liking a pair of binoculars doesn't mean snobbery if you don't overshadow cheaper ones and make a big deal out of it. And this topic is no way about this! This is an Ultravid 8x20 "dissection".
So let's focus again on this superb little binocular! ...you can zoom in!
