Leica Trinovid 8x42HD (1 Viewer)

Has anyone posted a review or test of the above bins in these pages,or elsewhere? Yes,I have read several reviews of the 10x42 version ,also 8x32,but have not seen one as such on the above; although I have read some opinions. Anything would be interesting, although I would prefer sober assesments rather than the Wow,Wow,Wow!! type of report. I will take what I can get!! Yours,Richard.

I tested some a few years ago, and whilst I've always loved Leica, I ended up choosing the Zeiss Conquest 8x42HD instead. Never had Zeiss before that.
They were just a bit better in my opinion, but both were very good, and makes you question the price of Alpha models.
I can't believe you would be disappointed, but you may be disappointed in having to nearly double your budget to get alpha, for very little gain.
As always, it's personal, and I understand having the best of the best..... you pays your money, and makes your choice.

I posted a comparison with the 8x42 (non HD version) and the Conquest HD some years ago; unfortunately in German, see
But perhaps with Google Translate you might get the gist of it?

Look at this. Might be interesting for you. Post in thread 'Trinovid 8x42 HD' Trinovid 8x42 HD

Edit: I reread the above mentioned thread. In my initial post I talk about flare, what I mean is glare.

Thanks to all three of you for your helpful and interesting replies. My difficulty with these binoculars was I had trouble telling the difference in optical quality with others half the cost. It was an interesting exercise, but frustrating.

Yes,I do wear glasses. I did actually buy the 8x42 Trinovid HD bins, but under the dealers scheme I returned them after seven days use. [The dealers were very good.] During that seven days I tested them in good, bad, and fading light against my Hawke Frontier ED 8X43 bins, [double hinge]. I had previously tested these Frontiers at the dealers against Trinovids, Bresser Pirsch ED ,Conquest, Opticron Aurora. I sadly could not see any difference between them; I was not getting any real improvement for considerable extra expenditure,so I returned them. I did not enjoy returning them; I do not like doing business this way. [The Trinovids did have a little amount of colour fringing, which I was unable to replicate on my cheaper,£300 Frontier bins. [Trinovids £750.] Yours, diksflight.
