Leech socks - help ! (1 Viewer)

Looks like you've got some socks sorted, but here's a thought -

Copper is used in gardening as a barrier to stop slugs - a small electrical discahrge is produced which dissuades them from crossing. Anyone ever tried this for leeches? presumably the flexible copper tape sold for plant pots would work, or even some copper wire threaded into some more normal socks? Or would it prove too flimsy/snaggable and not be practical even if it did stop them?

??

Sitting in an internet cafe in Kandy after having returned from Sinharaja a few days ago. After some heavy rains the place is full with leeches. However, the local places (Martin's Lodge and the Blue Magpie) sell leech socks. They also have some homemade things to spray on them (however, don't ask what it is). I stayed for four nights in mostly heavy rain and had three bites in the end (one in the bellybutton, check there!;)). However, we went virtually everywhere, if you stick to the paths you should be fine with the socks. An absolutely amazing place, you will enjoy it!
