This beetle was about 1" long and appeared in my moth trap last night (15th July). Anyone recognise it?

Thought I'd share something interesting I learned a while back. Mites are often found hitching a ride on the back of burying beetles as you can see in my photo I've attached. They do this as a means of transport to get to the next carcus. The mites feed on fly eggs and bacteria in the carcus. This relationship is refered to as phoresy. The burying beetles may also benefit by being cleaned of fly eggs and bacteria. Also, as the mites feed on fly eggs, there will be reduced competition with the carrion beetle larvae.
