Hello,

I've the occasion to get one kenko Greenfield 80 near mint for 70$, and after some research i don't find lots of information...seem be a decent fieldscope for the price.

I've just buy a Opticron HR60, what comparaison ?

The kenko have a 20-50 zoom and my HR60 have a 22x, maybe a good complement...
Of course the kenko is a 80 but will it really be more luminous ?

Anyway, what's do you think of this materiel ?

Hi,

as you stated, very few infos to be found outside of Japan. From one product video found on google, it looked to be single coated, which does not help especially with the stack of glass called zoom eyepiece.

It didn't say ED anywhere, so probably a plain glass achromat which will be best at 30x or thereabouts with a zoom EP that is quite narrow at that magnification. And no chance of simply buying a 30x wide for it...

I would pass... the HR60 is probably better, maybe get another EP around 30x wide angle... here is an old thread about the HR60 including a post by Pete with some old catalogue scans stating it is multicoated... but you seem to know that ;-)

Or save up a bit and snag a nice cheap ED scope later...

Thanks a lot for your answer, indeed, i've red the catalog scans of this post.
I'll probably follow your advice and get some fun with the HR60, maybe find a good occasion to procure an other EP if i feel the need.
