In AND around Sunderland (2 Viewers)

Hi Ian and Andy, the Water Rail was seen in the small stream which is between the pond and the band stand when i saw it it was just on the band stand side of the small bridge but it ran across the path and up the bank on the other side and didnt show itself again for about an hour that I stayed.
I belive its been seen here for at least 3 winters in a row now from what i gather its normally been seen on the other side of the bridge towards the 'waterfall' end of the stream.
Monday was the first time i've managed to see it despite trying a number of times over the last couple of winters the main problem i find is getting more than a few minuets without someone walking through and disturbing the place so best to try a time when its likely to be as quiet as possible.

Had a half hour in the park this morning but no sign of the Water Rail despite the park being pretty quiet people wise.
A good selection of Waders next to the pier,Purple Sands,Sanderlings,Ringed Plovers,Turnstones,Redshanks and Oystercatchers and Dunlin.

Adult Iceland Gull still about also 3 Eiders and a couple of RT Divers around the river mouth.

Started off along Whitburn this morning,a single Goldcrest along the edge of Shearwater estate with Tit flock which included 10+ Long Tailed Tits. A couple of Fulmars flying past were a first of the year for me.
Walked back via Roker park and got lucky again with the Water Rail,it showed itself after just a couple of minutes briefly before flying across the stream then back again before dissapearing back into cover.
