Whilst out and about in Northumberland on Sunday Mick suggested that the next night out (to discuss the next day out) should be on 6th November at the usual meeting place.

Small amounts of alcoholic beverage may be purchased and consumed at this venue which is totally at the discretion of the individual.B :) No fireworks please as this is an indoor event :eek!:

Newcomers always very welcome so if you haven't been on one of these nights out and fancy a laugh along with plenty of bird chat then this is for you.

All of those in favour say aye so we can get an approximation of the number going.

Brian

Dear Boys

Sorry lads but Mick won't be in attendance that night as he has clearly and completely forgotten about the bloody wedding he is going to that night. I may allow him out for another night though..........

Yours,

:cat:

Trip to Cresswell today - in the hope of a few 'Barnie' pics but no joy there..

However did see Water Rails x 2, Snipe, RB Mergansers, Widgeon, Stonechat, Reed Buntings, Kestrel, Mute Swans, Teal, Little Grebe, Dunlin, Mallards, Kingfisher, Gadwall, Heron, Pochard, massive flock of Geese overhead, and the highlight a Merlin take a Starling in flight on far left of pond :t:

Tried my luck at Druridge and dipped on the Otter in front of the hide by 10 mins :-C I did see the otter but he was a gazillion miles away and not worth taking pictures.

However managed to see - Juv Goldeneye, Teal, Widgeon, Mute Swans, Gadwall, Mallards, Greenshank, Redshank, Little Grebe, Heron, Shoveller

Couple of pics..

Garden Tick

Went on the usual dog walk this morning and disturbed a bird a bit bigger
than a Blackbird, flew out of long grass and flew kind of funny like
into the hedgerow on the Leas and dissapeared, so I thought to myself
its not a Blackie but was kind of dark and the way it flew was kind of
upright.
Anyway I thought it could be a Moorhen or something of that size
and I would get the dogs back home and come back down later.

Afternoon and I am back down hunting for the bird in the shrubs but
nowt but Stonies and Reedies.

Got back home and making a cup of tea looking at the birds in the garden
(plenty of Blackies) and saw in the upturned dustbin lid (kind of posh
in this neighbourhood) what I thought was a Blackie bathing but got the binoculars on it and saw what I had been searching for on the Leas.

A Water Rail............
in me back garden would you believe.

OK

its not

a
ECW but still for a garden tick its as good as.:-O:-O:-O

Sod the wedding better crack at the Alum house - are you man or mouse??

Just tell Joanne that you are the boss and there is no way she is going to boss you about. Well that's what you told us you were going to do last time you were out. :t:

Brian

Hope it's ok, and manages to get to a more natural habitat.

Top garden tick, all the same!!:t:

Mick

Nothing more natural than my garden Mick, boggy and overgrown I think thats what the book described its enviroment to be.:-O

I'm always being told by wor lass to get the garden tidied up by I am going to have to declare the garden a nature reserve.
Gets me out of more work.:t:
Anyone know what the bird feeds on ?

Aye Brian I tried that. I am now in a tent in the back garden, with two black eyes, a severe limp and a pair of Leica bins permanently lodged between my shoulder blades, and I'm still going to the wedding.
On a more positive note....... I should make a few bob off the tooth fairies.
