This sounds like an owl to us, maybe Great Horned, coming from a dense clump of trees, then later from a palm tree in dense vegetation. Between 12 and 1 pm today. Thank you

Are you sure this was even an owl? If I heard that bird calling here in the uk I,d swear it was a collarded dove Forgive me river girl I,m hopeless away from home.

Thanks all. I had seen those doves in the area but none where the call was coming from. I don't see them in Maine, either. Glad to know now.
