If you are into hummingbirds in Texas, you may also want to try:

Davis Mountains Hummingbird Festival in mid August (this year they had 10 species for the weekend)
Xtreme Hummingbird Xtravaganza, Lake Jackson the week before Rockport.

What a Hummingbird Weekend!

Just got back from the festival in Rockport where they always throw a great celebration. Saw LOTS of hummingbirds - not a garden did I visit where the birds weren't lined up and waiting for an opening to feed! Mostly Ruby-throated Hummingbirds but there were also Buff-bellied, Rufous and they even banded an Allen's that weekend.

GREAT birding

I wasn't able to go to Rockport this year. Anyone have any news of any unusual hummers caught during the banding sessions?

Edit: No sooner had I hit post, when I see that Mark has answered my question for me!

Thanks!

The Allen's was not caught at Bob Sargent's banding station. One of the other banders who was there (Brent Ortego) captured it at one of the other hummer homes.
