House Sparrows, I'm new to this site, main interest wild flowers especially UK native orchids. However last week in tiny village N. Norfolk had vivid reminder of my youth, some 6oyr. ago when they were common place in the industrial NW where I originate. I can't remember last time I saw one, (or Starlings for that matter), I now live in B'ham in the UK midlands. It was such a joy and surprise to see a dozen or more dashing around.
Meant as much to me as those that I percieve as birders would consider as common species. Bit like me amongst a sea of wild flowers, and being prone to walk by a Common Spotted Orchid; how sad!
Wonder when I will see some more of the perky little fellows?
