"belly band" streaking in pic #2

ok thanks are there any other hawks with a tail of that colour? or should the red/brown tail always be a give away that its a red tailed hawk?

No, the adult Red-tailed Hawk's the only one.

Like Fugl mentions, they're the only raptor to show rufous red tail (conditional...if they have it)
