Gorillapod vs Manfrotto 709B Digi Tabletop Tripod (1 Viewer)

I think it's time that I got a wee tripod for terrestrial macro stuff (plants, inverts). Needs to get me close to the ground, and for use at times when a beanbag won't do. This is new terrain for me. Research suggests two options:

Gorillapod or Manfrotto 709B Digi Tabletop Tripod

Views on which is best?

The Manfrotto is really a very small but stable tripod. It's ideal for shooting table top items from the side. The Gorilla pod will do all of this but it is much more flexible and the legs can be wrapped around branches etc. for that unusual different angle shot. It is also quite stable if used properly. I would consider that the versatility of the Gorilla pod would make it the better buy.
