Found this in my attic yesterday. What type of bird would make a nest this large and how long would it take to build it?

The house is in Northeast Louisiana

Here are the eggs:

hi steve and welcome to BF!

probably house sparrow (passer domesticus) since everything is made out of hay plus some plastic things in it.

cheers

Thank you lou!

I'm curious about how long it would take a bird to bring all that hay in. I bought the house this past July. I'm just curious if home inspector missed this or if it was built since then. Also, an electrician that was supposed to remove all the knob and tube wiring before I bought the house was up there. He didn't remove the k&t in that area. Any idea if that nest has been added to every year or could a bird do that in 8 months?

I had an almost identical nest in my house a few years back and it was a European Starling nest. They built the entire huge nest in one season.

Wow, that's amazing! I never realized birds made nest that big. I thought it was a raccoon or squirrel before seeing the eggs.
Thank you for the responses!
