Finch House or Purple or something else - South Llano River State Park - Texas - USA (1 Viewer)

Saw this bird today Feb. 21, 2014 and captured an image. Think it might be a Purple finch but do not know for certain. Please help ID this bird.

House finch. A purple finch wouldn't have the brown streaks on the flanks.

Looks like a House Finch to me too.

To me looking like house.
Some say a picture I took of house was in fact purple.
But if the picture here (about halfway down the page) is house then you are good for house finch

The picture on your site does look like a HF to me. Too much streaking for PF.

Agree with house finch. Facial markings aren't strong enough either, and square tail is good for House.
