Female Warbler? Ottawa, ON (1 Viewer)

Gillian_M

Birding since 2006!
I saw this yellowish bird today and I'm not sure what it was - there were no breast streaks. Is it a female Yellow Warbler, female Common Yellowthroat, or something else? It was taken in riparian habitat along the Ottawa River, but not in a really marshy area.

Thanks again!

Warblers tell you who they are between their feet and the tips of their tail. In this case the Warbler is sharing her ID by the color of the underside of her tail...

...together with that unbroken eye -ring and plain face and the fact that it´s a she as BL so witty say´s.

quite so, JanJ, and the edges of her flight feathers and wing coverts also advertise her species. Nonetheless, the yellow tail spots are enough on their own...
