Fellow Birdwatchers (1 Viewer)

I live in northern Kentucky and am 80 years old and have been feeding birds for 50 years. I have a feeder with a camera and typically see many varieties of birds at the rate of every few minutes till lately. I have been adding feed at the rate of 3 solo cups a day until recently. I have very few visits and have not had any bird pictures nor has my feed level receded much this past week. I’m wondering if the bird flu has contributed to this decline. I also feed on the ground and deer and Wild Turkeys come every day still.
Has anyone else had a precipitous drop in sighting's ?
Would it be wise for me to quit feeding as it may be spreading a disease?
Thanks for any advise,
Kentucky Birdwatcher

Hi Kentucky Birdwatcher and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Sorry, I can't help with your particular problem. I do find that every now and then, for no reason that I can determine, the birds seem to disappear for a while, then all of a sudden they're back.

It may be an idea to head to our Garden forum and see what ideas they may have. This is a link to the forum: Garden Birds, Bird Feeding & Nestboxes

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Thank your for your comment. I took the feeder down and cleaned it and emptied out the seed in it. I’m waiting to see if that makes a difference. I dumped the seed on the ground and the turkeys quickly devoured it. Hopefully it is not tainted seed. I will keep you posted.
