Everyones most desired or dream bird species? (1 Viewer)

My list of targets might not stay constant, and not just due to ticking some of them (if I do). These targets come out of the fact that I flipped through a book or website, and suddenly went "Wow". But what wows me hasn't always been the same.

Also, I distinguish realistic targets from dream birds. (I sometimes dream about birding, so who knows.)

The top target at present is Lilac Kingfisher, because it just makes me smile how closely it resembles an Oriole. Sulawesi isn't too far from where I live.

The top dream bird is Northern Cassowary. New Guinea is not convenient enough for me, so I will shelve this for now.

Other categories:

The top bird I have seen several times but haven't properly ticked is Sulphur-breasted Warbler. It has never called in my presence, and you do need the sound to separate it from Limestone Leaf Warbler.

The top bird I have yet to see where I live is Siberian Thrush. I have had a few near misses.

The top birds I didn't tick in my three years in the UK, for stupid reasons, are Short-eared and Long-eared Owl.

Corncrake I think the only regular breeding British species I havent seen (not seen Leach's Petrel but that feels more tangential to my idea of britain)

Any hummingbird ; I recently finished my "10 animals pinned on my fridge" lifetime targets list and am working on a new one. Hummingbird was the first thing I put on it.
Any penguin
A big flightless bird. Cassowary would probably be the coolest and i'd love to see Ostrich but any would do.
Secretary Bird. I depserately want to go back to subsaharan africa (one trip so far) and Secretary Bird are one of those cool wildlife documentary birds like Marabou (and Ostrich) that I've wanted to see all my life.

I must say, I don't know too much about N American birds, but Picoides arcticus looks really cool! I may have an opportunity to visit Toronto and may well ask somebody where to find one.
That's a much sought-after bird here in the states. Living in Texas, it was off my radar, but I completely chanced into one on an overnight backpacking trip in Lassen Volcanic NP.
An hour or so later, while trying to get glass on what I suspect was a Williamson's sapsucker, I put my bins down only to see a large black bear 50 ft away. It proceeded to casually explore our campsite for half an hour before wandering off. It was an incredible couple hours of experiencing legitimate wilderness.20190622_174612.jpg

Dream species for me in US...
-Great gray owl
-Connecticut warbler

South/Central America
-Harpy eagle (#1 overall anywhere)
-Keel-billed toucan (I know they're not that hard to find, but I somehow missed them in the Yucatan on my only attempt)
-Sword-billed hummingbird

I haven't researched the old world and Oceania enough to form a strong opinion, but any bird of paradise, kiwi or penguin would be on the list. Probably capercallie, great bustard, steller's sea eagle are up there too.

I do love a bittern - especially at one of my patch reserves rather than Ham Wall or Minsmere where they are often seen.

Hyacinth Macaw is pretty high up there and one that I have a very real chance of seeing in 2025 if everything goes to plan!

Marvellous Spatuletail is probably my top dream species.
