Rainton Meadows - Today

Lots of the usual stuff about, including reed bunting, tree sparrow, singl great crested grebe, 2 shell duck, at least 4 snipe on the island but well hidden, cormorant, lapwing etc. Also saw my first chiffchaff of the year.

South Shields - Today

Purple Sandpiper, turnstone, meadow & rock pipit, cormorant and sanderling near the pier area.
Called at Souter and was pleased to see razorbill, kittiwake and fulmar, all claiming there position on the cliffs etc, ready to breed.

The Dales - Yesterday

Buzzard, kestrel, distant red kite, dipper, grey & pied wagtails, meadow pipits, skylark, red & black grouse, swallow, curlew, chiffchafff, golden plover and the usual, more commmon birds.
Called at Pow Hill and was lucky enough to see a single male crossbill, siskin, tree creeper & the usual chaffinch and tits.

A few shots from Clara Vale, yesterday.
King Fishers were very active, chasing, passing fish and mating, but although great to watch, to distant and dull for pics.
Also good selection of the usual birds + sparrow hawk through twice.

First Wheatear of the year at South Shields today.
Other birds Meadow pipits, reed bunting, goldfinch, skylark, Cormorants, eider and single guillemot near the pier.

A few from Dormans Pool today, Grasshopper warbler showed well, other birds seen, Sedge warbler, reed bunting, wren, goldfinch, blue & great tit, swallow, house martin and distant black cap.

Visit to Clara Vale & Far Pastures, yesterday:
Very much the usual at Clara, other than a distant black cap, other birds included jay, stock dove, g.s woodpecker,coal, willow, blue, great and l.t tit, greenfinch, chaffinch, bullfinch, chiffchaff, wren, heron, kingfisher & the usual ducks etc.
Not much at Far Pastures from the hide, just ducklings, swallows, little grebe.
Plenty of the usual birds in the car park + a pair of kites and a buzzard.

Teesside.

Cowpen Bewley:
At least 4 Grasshopper Warblers, white throat, black cap, Chiffchaff, willow warbler, robin etc during our walk, also orange tip, white, peacock and small tortoiseshell butterflies.

Dormans:
Birds seen and heard were Sedge, willow & reed warblers, Barnacle goose, whitethroat, chiffchaff, wren, reed bunting, goldfinch, swallow & distant black cap Etc.

Dog Walkers

A visit too Kibblesworth an area where many birds are ground nesters. While observing a few birds in general two women turned up with 14 dogs not one on a lead. It's about time something was done to stop this or have it licenced in some way.

been to crimdon today, little terns in fine form. also saw skylarks and a willow tit.

closer to home, yellowhammer at wheatley hill/thornley near the greyhound track
 
Bollihope on Monday. Cuckoos on overhead wires on hillside just above the small plantation where they have been cutting trees opposite the carpark/picnic area. Also Dipper Goldcrest Sandpiper Thrush Robin Tits Blackbird Wren Kestrel Lapwing Curlew. Lot of birds in small area.
