Cheers Derek, difficult to keep it steady with the windy conditions, oh for a calm day. Lovely set of images, pleased to see the Hairstreaks are out.

South Shields

A few images from yesterday:
Common and Sandwich terns at the pier area, also med gull, flying toward the main road.
The usual at Souter with kittiwake, fulmar, cormorants, gulls and a few guillemot on the water. Lots of Juv, kittiwake but didn't see any flying.

Hi all,

You may be interested to know that Hen Harrier Day North East will be held at RSPB Saltholme on Sunday 9th August 10:30am - 2:00pm.

Come along and help raise awareness of our missing hen harriers which are facing extinction in England due to illegal persecution.

There will be raffle prizes to be won and we may even have a celebrity guest attending (in negotiations - should hopefully know in the next few days).

Follow us on Twitter: @HHDayNorthEast
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1437578749903148/

Also check out www.henharrierday.org for more information.

Kind Regards,
Craig

Biodiversity events are being held at Elba Park (between Chester-le-Street and Houghton) on the Wednesdays of 5th, 12th and 19th August, and the organisers are hoping to get a few people involved in conservation and habitat creation. Please see the attached for more details of who to contact and when things are happening.
It's an ideal chance to help the birds, plants and animals in this area, as well as a bit of fun for the family.

Mark
