Why would you want to touch it? It moves away when you do, so the conclusion is, it probably doesn't want you to do that
In your first post you've already quoted @KC Foggin with the answer anyway.

Well, I guess no one has any information. I was just curious to find out. The bird sat, perched on my feeder, with eyes closed, for over 30 mins. Then, all of a sudden, it flew away. Never seen that before in all my life.
Ohhhhh how sweet. I love my 1 family of hummers in the front and one Lil stinker in the back patio. Lol. Oh he's mean and "barks" and chases any one who comes!
He actually will bark at my medium size dog who lays, asleep, on the patio! So funny. He flies all around about 3 feet above him and you can see his head turning and looking at him.
Sorry, lol, I wandered. I too wanted to know if they take naps. I guess we shall keep wondering!

Hi,
A few years ago I first watched and filmed one that sat for 20 min. in my yard. It itched and scratched then sat and napped a sec and a half at a time or so, always waking and checking. That was in summer too, perhaps when they have enough reserves to just sit awhile without feeding.
Not as quick to leave when I show up in the morning either when it is so cold out. I will post some 'cool' pics I took two days ago. 'twill send shivers up your spine!
I can’t wait to see your pics !!! I live in PA and I had a hummingbird for the first 2 years say goodbye to me from my sliding glass door and then never saw it again- I did not realize that they only live about 3 years.
