Crane or Stork? Germany (1 Viewer)

I observed a flock of birds flying north in a V formation today over Frankfurt, Germany. My field guides show that black and elongated necks would be common cranes. But, the wing pattern if different (again, based on the my field guides). Any thoughts on these birds?
