Confused- Are these Siskins-Portugal (1 Viewer)

Took these pix today ,thought they were Siskins ,not sure know I have seen them up close,any help appreciated.

Not surprised you were confused, given the poor treatment by the Collins Field Guide with its very limited coverage (no pic at all in this instance) of established exotics.

That's exactly what we said last night after finding out what they were,there were 100's of Waxbills there today,slightly better coverage for them in Collins.
 
Nice pics Bob - we stayed at Quinta Do Lago and I visited the reserve down towards the beach there, Rio Formosa. These BH Weavers were quite common there and also a new bird for me.

Yes they seem to be quite established now,the Waxbills are quite common as well with quite large flocks in this area.
We visited the Rio Formosa reserve last winter a lovely place.
