Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast (3 Viewers)

Well I will probably be going to at least one of the sites depending what time I finish. I may put the LSW first as they are so rare and there are only a handful of places to see them now. If I get one quickly then almost certainly will go to Risley after if I have time. If I finish late then I might just go for the Woodcock and leave the LSW for another day when I will need more time.

In future it might be worth staying over ... Lavender Cottage at Burton Marsh Farm has fantastic views over BUrton Marsh and is next door to Inner Marsh Farm. With Burton Marsh, Decca Pools and Denhall Quay all within walking distance as well as the aforementioned IMF.

There website is www.sykescottages.co.uk phone 0151 355 1251

And in the interest of fair competition there is a B&B in Burton Village - Trustwood B&B www.trustwood.freeserve.co.uk 0151 336 7118

Also, the guys at The Ship Inn, Parkgate are good friends of the RSPB Dee Estuary team B :)

A first for me today - all 3 Woodpeckers. A lesser spot was in wood next to the car park @ 9:30 this morning. A vocal Green was over the car park later on and a Great spot at the feeding station. 3 or 4 Water Rails were squealing in the eastern reedbeds where 2 were seen scurrying between reed beds.
Apart from that very quiet.
Can somebody give me directions to Richmond bank please.

Cheers

Jason

Can you also access it from the Moore NR side of the river? Looking at the map there appears to be a path that goes out there.

NO you can not view from the bank from that side. You would need to be on part of the land fill site to view the bank from the moore side all though it is long time since they tiped there they still extract gas from that part of the site.
The only pubic paths from moore take you down to the hides at upper moss side norton marsh on mersey bank quite a way down from richmond bank though is some good bird watching to had down that way.
