Hi. We are off to chania for a week in mid October. Any tips welcome. Am interested in any migratory birds and good sites near chania and Akrotiri peninsula. Thanks!

I have been to the Chania area at the end of Sept/start of Oct for the last two years. Family holiday mostly but have been out and about a bit.
Generally very quiet at that time of year but this is a nice little oasis. Agia Lake

Thanks Simon. I’ll be sure to give that a try. Are the griffon vultures common enough to see without too much effort?

I've stayed in Gavalohori and Xirosterni and in both places they've appeared from the mountains overhead without having to go looking. Seen at Agia too.
