Blue bird - yellow beak - identification (1 Viewer)

HI - Just spotted this bird today and was able to get a few pictures.

It has a yellow beak, bright blue body all over, some dark bands on it's wing feathers. Was feeding on the ground, with a bunch of yellow goldfinches.

Welcome to BirdForum. Your bird looks like an Indigo Bunting to me, although it would be helpful if you could let us know where the picture was taken.

Hi Cindy,

What you saw is a blue finch. They are also called Yellow-billed blue finch. Just saw one at my feeder 3 days ago.

Hi Rosario, welcome to the Forum. What she photographed is an Indigo Bunting, which does not have a yellow bill (though the light can make it appear that it does).
