Birdwatching in Brandenburg (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
Next week i'm going to visit some family in Germany, flying in to Berlin for a day and then staying in Peetzig, Angermünde for 5 days.
I'll hope to get to Tiergarten for goshawk and hawfinch - unless any other suggestions?
The majority of my birding will just be local but i'm hoping I get chance to go a bit further afield and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

I've looked at the Lower Oder Valley National Park, but obviously being such a big area it's difficult to know where to prioritise if I have a short window (perhaps a day) to get out and bird. I'd like to see anything that isn't really possible in the UK without a desperate twitch, but appreciate it might not be the best time of year.

The following link shows two routes. Does anyone have any thoughts on which is more suitable? Forest better chance of woodpeckers sp. but lagoon waders and waterfowl I assume.
Alternatively, any other suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks in advance.

You're probably aware that mid-July is not a very good time for birding, so you may miss some of your targets despite being at the right spots.
Tiergarten is the spot for Goshawk, but they're not rare anywhere, Hawfinch should be available in pretty much any forest or park with trees.

The region you're at is awesome for birding. You should definitely check out

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, not the peak time by any means. Visiting for a family party so any birding I get to do will be welcome! Might just be a lot of local walks at any opportunity I get. Have been looking for a decent local guidebook, but Birds of Brandenburg and Berlin seems to be out of print, so guessing just the trusty old Collins guide will be suitable.
Thanks again!

Try ponds Blumberger Mühle and the lake Grimnitzsee, which are relatively close.

A bit further away on the Polish side of the border is Ujście Warty National park / Słońsk, especially good is a concrete road Betonka going from the village Przyborów / Słońsk. It can be a fantastic water bird area, although dependent from the water level. July is rather hit-and-miss for birding in this part Europe.
