Birds singing at 3am (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone :) for the past week or so I have been woken up at 3.30am by a rather loud bird singing in the tree in my front garden. I have never heard this before and thought that it seems at bit odd. 1) Because its Winter and 2) dawn isnt for a few hours yet
Is this a usual habit for a particular bird? I have tried looking out to see what kind of bird it is but its so dark out

we have a robin, that seems to sing morning, noon&night, we even heard it after the firework barrage news years eve, amazing, it is allways on the fronts where all the streetlighting is, and maybe with mild weather it feels the urge to sing.

Many birds have started night singing in the last few days now the weather is milder - Robins, Blackbirds and Song Thrush have all been heard well before dawn.

They've started to sing again in general. I always notice the difference in comparison to before Christmas and it's lovely- the first indication that Spring is coming. It'll get better and better from here onwards :t:

I noticed the Robin singing last night as well. Yesterday whilst out and about i also noticed there were movements of frogs. The weather has been very mild recently.

Gerard.

Too true, i remember during the eighties being snowed under during mid March.

If it is really loud and at bedroom window level I would tend to think that it is a Song Thrush.

'My' Song Thrush started up earlier this week, also outside the bedroom window. At the start of the year its quite pleasing to the ear, but after 4 months of being woken up, it becomes a bit tiresome!
