Hey everyone,
I went birding today and a few of them fooled me. Again, I am a beginner as some of these might be easy. Thanks!

1. Rufous or Allen's Hummingbird - don't know my western Hummingbirds well enough to differenciate
2. Red-tailed Hawk
3. Golden-crowned Sparrow
4. Another Red-tailed Hawk - note patigal bars
5. Western Tanager?
6. Sharper bill makes me think Brewer's Blackbird moreso than Common Grackle

Can't comment on the hummingbird. The rest I would agree with except #5. When I lightened it up it looks like a black-headed grosbeak.

Curious though about the golden-crowned sparrow. Do they often have black throats like that? I thought it was a harris' sparrow until I saw the yellow crown. Of course, I don't even know if harris migrate through washington state.

On the sparrow - looking at Sibley, a Harris' would be way out of range, but no worries, that's why we have this great forum - to learn :bounce: . I believe the darker throat is just in the shadows. On #5, the fact is I don't have enough experience with western species, so it's up in the air for me now between the two, leaning towards Black-headed Grosbeak (if I had my normal computer now I'd brighten it and take a look :C ).

Number five is definitely a Black-headed Grosbeak. I'm pretty sure number three is a Golden-crowned Sparrow.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I still need to find out which hummingbird that is and whether or not it is a common grackle or brewer's blackbird, but the sharper bill definetly makes it seem to be a brewer's blackbird. So, if anyone knows, please comment. Thanks again.

It's a Rufous Hummingbird.
