A friend is going to visiting London next days.Any store espesially for ZEISS and OPTICRON near South Kensington? Thanks for any help.

Tom,

Hopefully some Londoners can offer more local knowledge. The only two places I can think of that stock both in London are a little way from South Kensington. The London Camera Exchange is on the Strand. A short venture on the underground system (tube) to Charring cross and a short walk. InFocus at the London Wetlands Centre is a little more difficult to get to, but has the advantage of much better testing conditions. The Tube to Hammersmith, and a longish walk, or bus, or more likely a taxi. I expect Harrods might have a pair or two, and others offer one or the other. Places like Classic Cameras and Microglobe are close to each other but up in Holborn.

This may be out of date, so google the information to check, & phoe to check stock:

Zeiss at Classic Camera Compay tucked away in Pied Bull Yard, just south of the British Museum
Nikon and Hawke at Kingsley Photographic half way up Tottenham Court Road
Steiner at Spectrum at the north end of Totteham Court Road 127-129

Hi Tom,

I visit, for a week last June, my eldest son living in London. I went to and visit some binoculars shop. But, in the end, at Harrod's I found the main brands and models ALL together!!!! I spend a few hours there.
A courious thing I found: The Leica HD+, recently arrived, had a 20% LOWER price than the plain HD...! The person at charge of the optics department couldn't explain this...

Good luck!

Tom,

I don't think I can add much to the places Charleybird and myself mentioned at the top of the thread. I rarely visit London these days. Besides Harrods some of the larger department stores like John Lewis, Army and Navy or Selfridges may have a limited stock but I'm sure they have nowhere suitable for testing. For that, you would need the London Wetlands centre I mentioned or InFocus at London Colney which is about 20km north-west of London.
