Baby Robins are gone from the nest on day 12- (1 Viewer)

Hi. I have been watching a family of Robins since about Jun 25th when I noticed a mama building a nest, then there were 4 eggs, and then 3 hatched on July 12th. Today is the 24th and when I woke up they were gone. They seemed not fully developed yet compared to some pictures I have seen. I am concerned that something ate them- as I see no activity or hear the parents tweeting. Is it possible they got washed out during a terrible downpour and drowned? Would the parents take them out of the nest? I am heartbroken as I have watched the progress and was so excited to hopefully see these babies grow up and fly away. Any idea what might have caused this abrupt disappearance? It seems that it would be too soon for them to fledge. Thank you

Hi Robin and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

It is a very sad fact that many nests fail each year. Why it has happened to this nest though I don't know. It could be any of the reasons you state but there could be more too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing about the birds you see around you.
