April Waxwings? (1 Viewer)

Well spring is here and I've heard a few Chiff Chaffs already, but waxwings? still here? is this common for them to be around so late?

This one was one of four at Tesco, Edinburgh Way, Harlow ( 2 males, 2 females apparentley ). They have been there for about a week so I am told. I went at 5:00 on 31st March and then again on 1st April when I took the photo.

Wondered this myself, my book says they are winter visitors but there's been 4 at Strumpshaw RSPB, Norfolk on & off the last couple of weeks. Must like it here !!

I saw these there last Satuday. There were 10 at the time, I was filling up with petrol.

It's probably still 'winter' in their breeding grounds.

Fieldfares and Redwings, etc., can often be recorded in this country into early May
