APM 1.25" eyepiece adapter. (1 Viewer)

Hi Niels,

I have an ATM 65HD (the same scope but with an Mg alloy body) and this adapter Swarovski Astroadapter.
It is a replica of the original Swarovski astro adapter, which was sold about 20 years ago as an accessory for the AT80 and ST80 scopes. Swarovski offered a rebadged 6 mm Vixen LV eyepiece for 77x magnification.
IIRC it was about twice the price of the APM adapter. I think the difference in appearance is probably accounted for by different materials. The Swarovski/Jülich adapter is aluminium, whereas the APM adapter would appear to be stainless steel, which would allow the tubular construction with shallower lugs.
The ATM/ATS scopes have plenty of back focus, so they will reach infinity focus with a wide variety of astro eyepieces.

Thanks John.

I have ordered the APM adapter to try out with my old Celestron #82001 eyepiece on the ATS 65 HD. It should get me that 30x wideangle view.

The adapter works great with my Celestron eyepiece on the ATS 65 HD. I can focus on the Moon with a little extra room on the focus ring. Good enough for birding.

Field of view with the Celestron eyepiece is similar to the Swarovski 20-60x at 20x.

Thanks for the feedback, Niels. A 30x WA is a useful compromise on a 65 mm scope. Edge performance OK?

John
The edge performance is quite good and CA is very low. This particular eyepiece was made for the Celestron Regal series of spotting scopes.
