I am dismayed. Sometimes I wonder how avian taxonomists reason.

On the other hand, that is an intelligent reflection. We can applaud them.

I assume they discussed this with George Sangster!

My base is divergence time, branch length (in comparison with nearest clades)

I hope Boyd doesn't fall into this collective madness.

They may not have discussed it since 2012, though.
The 4-species Luscinia is not really appealing to me either. (The group is essentially undiagnosable morphologically. I'll stick to Cyanosylvia.)
