Allens hummingbirds in my yard! First time trying photography! (1 Viewer)

I just received an old used nikon d300 with a NIKON 70-300mm f4-5.6 G AF 70-300mm/4-5.6G lens. It took a bit of settings tweaking and a lot of tries but I think I got some decent photos. The entire setup was under $200 so this is a pretty budget system. Overall I really like the auto-focus and look forward to bringing this along with me on my birding trips. I took some decent photos of other birds like doves, juncos, and finches but liked the hummingbird photos the most. The Allens are so pretty!

Forgot about this post. I have upgraded to a Nikon D7200 with the same lens and have learned a lot more about photography. I took some better photos by one of my feeders a few days ago of this Anna's hummingbird female. I'm out on the balcony birdwatching so often that the hummingbirds let me get within 4 feet of them. Makes photography with my short 300mm lens much easier (need to upgrade to something like a 600mm soon). Lighting wasn't the best, and the shutter speed could've been a little higher to freeze the wing motion, but I think these photos are neat.
