A first few from Donana (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
Just returned from Donana. Could you please help with ID/confirmation on these.

1. I thought originally was a Corn Bunting. Have now changed my mind based on beak colour and eye-ring. I now think Ortolan Bunting. Is that correct.

2. Am almost sure this is Northern Wheatear but am worried about white patch behind eye and pinkish breast. Is this correct ID?

3. Over-exposed. My best guess is Chiffchaff or Willow Warbler.

4. Even more hopeless on Gulls than on other Ids so will not even try to guess.

5. Had me baffled for some time. I think, though, it is a Stonechat.

More to follow, I'm afraid.

Many thanks

Cheers
John

no 3 is a Northern Wheatear, the gulls are unidentifiable but wil probably be Yellow-legged given palish inner primaries and the location, all the others are correct.

Thanks Rob.
I attach zoomed in view of bottom gull in hope that may help. It seems that has red legs.

Cheers

Gah, okay. Thanks for the info. Guess I will just have to come back!
Did you catch up with the two juvenile Spanish Imperial Eagles at El Rocio?

No, annoyingly missed them. I had been told they were there and where a favourite perch was on the far side of the 'lake'. Some birders who were there at same time as me had seen one only a few minutes prior to my arrival. Such is life.

Yeah, I was told by everyone there that they were quite rare in the area, with only one pair within ~30km. But then one night I spotted the two juvs, like you said, far across the marismas, and had them every day after that, in the same tree.
Even copulating one day..
Ah well, you get some, you miss some.
Sounds like you have an excuse to return as well haha.
