I have been looking at a star tonight, not our one though, or indeed a real one - just testing out a new scope. So far so good, excellent inside focus, not so excellent outside but currently I think probably good enough, it's Chinese too although in the case of the monarch 82 it seems that it hasn't been tarred with the 'all Chinese optics are rubbish" brush, cos it's not.....

As with all these things when you point them at something you actually want to look at and they bring nature closer they seem well worth it.

Not entirely sure if that will apply to the binoculars in question although on the subject of cheap Chinese bins a friend did pass me some £20 Kylietech 12x42's a while back and you know they weren't bad, 50 years ago they would have been amazing on most counts except build quality....
