    Willie Wagtail

Willie Wagtail At last, a day of birding - and there was Willie Wagtail, waiting to welcome me back - I hope you all enjoy him.
  2. Fan Dancer

    Fan Dancer

Willie Wagtail (juvenile) The juveniles are distinguished from the adults by the tan markings at the edges of the wing feathers.

They are similar with Grey Fantail while hunting :)
  4. Willie Wagtail

    Willie Wagtail

Willie Wagtail. Willie Wagtail stops by often at the pool, but he is not an easy bird to photograph - his whites over-expose, his black bits under-expose, his eye has a tendency to disappear among the black feathers. But every now and again I get lucky, and an acceptable photo results. This...

  8. Willie wagtail

    Willie wagtail

This little fellow is everywhere you go in Australia. But I still find them photogenic and their tail flicking antics always bring a smile
  9. Evening Bath

    Evening Bath

Willie Wagtail. My apologies for the wire - the pool is an artificial small pool, provided for the birds and fed by an ordinary lavatory cistern concealed beneath a bush in a native flora reserve - hence the wire, which was placed there to slow down ambush predators such as cats and dogs. A...

    Hot Gossip

These are some of the most common birds Id encountered during my stay in Perth recently. This pair is seen here performing an interesting ritual where one of the willies would fetch food for the other. Some kind of a courtship display or parenting behaviour ?
  13. 'Sweet Willie!!'

    'Sweet Willie!!'

This sweet little fellow was sitting on the lead outside the stable and at first glance I thought that the Restless Flycatcher was there!! In my haste to get to the house to grab the camera I didn't look too hard in case it flew away but to my delight it was still there when I got back outside...
  14. 'Up or Down!'

    'Up or Down!'

One of my many residents!! Thought I could share the antics of one that couldn't make up its mind as whether to stay or go, it wasn't sure if I would go closer or stay where I was! Hope you like it! BS!!
  15. Willie Wagtail

    Willie Wagtail

the wagtails can make some great sounds from a normal whistle to a noise similar to a rattle
  16. 'Contemplation!'

    'Contemplation!'

This Willie Wagtail was trying to make up its mind as to whether to chase off the 'Magpie, Mudlark, Raven or Sparrow' or to eat the jam-roll crumbs that I had put out with the bread! The sparrow won out and gobbled the jam having it all over it's face!! I was off to photograph the Kestrel so...
  17. 'The two of us!'

    'The two of us!'

This was the fellow that told the 'Flame Robin' that the water was great the other day but I've only just had time to look at the rest of the photos taken that afternoon. Hope you like!

Caught him while he was chasing insects. I know it is slightly grainy, but I'm just happy to get a close shot of him.
  20. Keep digging

    Keep digging

The tractor had been ripping the ground along the top area of the creek where we are about to plant 2000 trees and this little fellow just sat and watched!

Two immature Willie Wagtails I saw while out for a bit.
  23. Willie

    Willie

Very common in the entire Papua region, someone told me that it's sinfull to shoot these birds thus their number is very high, I wish it was the case for many other birds that are on the blink of becoming extinct.
  24. Willie Wagtail

    Willie Wagtail
